PERNEM: The Pernem traffic police keeping a hawks eye and penalising violators in and around the Chopdem bridge but intentionally letting those off the leash for breaking the law by parking vehicles in the no parking zone has not gone well with the locals.
It may be recalled that Vithaldas wada, New wada and nearby areas in Morjim panchayat have been notified as no-parking zones and yet the vehicles are seen haphazardly parked near the sign boards leading to traffic congestion everyday.
The Morjim panchayat has installed no-parking sign boards at various spots after the Dy Collector passed an order demarcating these areas as No Parking Zones as there were frequent traffic jams here. However, the traffic cell cops prefer to see no violations here, say locals.
Locals are upset as signboards of a taxi stand are kept in the place of no-parking boards while some businessmen have deliberately concealed the no-parking boards.
