PANJIM: As per directives of the Supreme Court, the State government has extended date for transportation of royalty paid iron ore till July 31.
On January 30, the Apex Court allowed transportation of ore, extracted before March 2018 while directing the State government to complete the process within six months.

Nearly 1.45 million tonnes of ore, for which royalty has been paid, is been transported.
In a notification issued on June 11, Director of Mines Vivek HP has said that in a partial modification of the Goa Mineral Policy, 2013, the transportation of ore in the State will be completed by July 31.
Meanwhile, the department has imposed ban on transportation of ore via a road in view of onset of southwest monsoon over Goa, except for minerals used for captive or domestic consumption.
The department has said that transportation of ore during monsoon season my jeopardise safety of citizens using the road network in the vicinity of mining leases or transportation routes of the minerals.
The iron ore mining activities in the State had come to halt on March 16, 2018.
