PONDA: A mango tree collapsed on the power lines and hung momentarily, before bringing down the electricity pole at a busy road near Mahalaxmi Temple in Wadi Talavlim on Saturday.
A few people who were at the site escaped unhurt as the tree fell on the power lines, which bore its weight before snapping.
The fallen tree also blocked the road, paralysing traffic plying on Ponda-Agapur road via Talavlim. Vehicles were later diverted through Undir route towards Agapur. Fire personnel rushed to site and cleared the electric pole and also cut the mango.
