MARGAO: The Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad (ABAVP) and United Tribals Association Alliance (UTAA) have formed an allegiance in Goa to push for their right of political reservations in the upcoming Assembly elections. They also selected former MLA Vasudev Meng Gaonkar to head the Goa Chapter of ABAVP, which has been working in India for 34 years.
“The ABAVP, by tying up with the UTAA, aims to help Goan Adivasis voice their problems and demands to the Central government. The government is not clearing the tribals’ rights to the forest lands, and the problem is in Goa too. We will take up the issue with the Centre and force the government to rule in our favour,” said ABAVP President Somjibhai Damor at a press conference on
