A truck transporting laterite stones overturned near Sacorda close to the Canara Bank junction after reportedly crashing into a roadside divider.
According to available information, the truck was allegedly carrying laterite stones sourced from an illegally operating quarry and was travelling along the Malle–Sacorda route when the accident took place.

Locals claimed that the vehicle had loaded the stones from the Malpan area, where several laterite stone quarries are reportedly functioning despite earlier enforcement action.
Residents have raised serious concerns over the frequent movement of heavy trucks through the area, particularly because a secondary and higher secondary school is located nearby, with nearly 400 to 500 students commuting daily. Parents and locals fear that the continuous movement of overloaded vehicles poses a major safety risk to students and pedestrians.
Sources further stated that although the Mining Department had conducted a raid in September targeting alleged illegal quarrying activities in Malpan, operations have reportedly resumed in the area.
The incident has renewed demands from residents for stricter monitoring and action against alleged illegal quarrying and unsafe transportation practices.
