Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Goa, in association with the Directorate of Official Language and the Goa State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), will organise a two-day Bal Sahitya Parishad on February 16 and 17 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, to promote and explore the world of children’s literature.
The parishad will commence on February 16 with an inaugural session from 10 am to 12 noon, featuring eminent Hindi writer Priyamvad. This will be followed by the first thematic session titled “Contemporary Issues in Children’s Literature” from 12 noon to 1.30 pm, with Sushil Shukla and Sonika Kaushik as speakers.
In the afternoon session from 3 pm to 5 pm, Dinesh Manerkar, Jose Lourenco, Nayana Adarkar and Harsha Shetye will present and discuss selected literary works.
On February 17, the focus will turn to the “Role of Children’s Literature in Education,” with Dr. Sunita Misra, Dr. Narayan Desai and Arti Muthanna addressing participants from 10 am to 12 noon. The concluding session, scheduled from 12 noon to 1.30 pm, will examine the “Illustration Process and Its Importance,” featuring renowned illustrators Chandramohan Kulkarni and Indrapromit Roy.
Organisers said the Bal Sahitya Parishad aims to encourage creative writing for children, underline the educational value of children’s literature, and provide a platform for writers, educators, illustrators and literature lovers to exchange ideas and experiences.
