Two held by Bicholim police over fire incidents

Bicholim police on Sunday arrested two persons in connection with separate fire incidents in the taluka that led to a loss of property worth lakhs of rupees.
In the first incident reported at Ladphem-Bicholim on Sunday, Sarvesh Narvekar had parked his truck (GA-01-U-0086) near Indo Arya Company on Saturday.
On Sunday, Sunil Bodke from Nashik, who works in Indo Arya, started the truck and after going for about 150 mts, rammed into a high-tension electricity pole.
The truck was gutted, Bodke was saved as he jumped out from the truck. Bicholim police arrested Bodke under Section 379 IPC.
In another incident, a case was booked against road contractor Basavraj Angdi from Sanquelim, who had taken a road contract at Menkurem-Bicholim.
On Sunday at about 1 pm, the fire which was used to heat the tar spread into the nearby area and gutted cashew, teak and mango plantations belonging to Vinayak Naik, Dattaram Naik, Tulsi Naik, Annapurna Naik, Yashoda Naik and Vithoba Naik, worth Rs 2 lakh.
