MARGAO: Colva police late Monday night arrested Vikas Prakash Rai, 26, and Shivam Ram Prakash Singh, 22, both from Uttar Pradesh, in connection with an extortion case.
Earlier, Colva police had arrested two women, Madhuri Kumari, 23, of Uttar Pradesh and Renu Devi, 29, of Bihar, in connection with the same case. They were remanded to three days in police custody.
The Colva Police Station has registered the offence under section 308(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), a resident of near Marina Suites, Benaulim, Salcete, Goa, originally from Karnataka.
The complainant, Sufiyan Byadgi, 19, alleged that on July 28, at around 11.30 pm, in the staff room on the second floor of Marina Suites, Betalbatim, the accused persons — Kumari, Devi, and a taxi driver — contacted offering escort services.
They extorted Rs 4,000 from him and further threatened him with false accusations of criminal involvement if he did not pay more money.
