CUNCOLIM: The UGDP general body meeting Friday appealed to all regional forces to come together and root out both the BJP and the Congress from Goas political arena.
Party General Secretary Adv Anacleto Viegas told the members that all regional forces need to come together and fight the election jointly. The meeting appointed Adv Radharao Gracias as a mediator to take this idea to all regional forces.
Adv Anacleto told members that both the BJP and the Congress have ruined Goa, therefore, only regional forces can save the State. “It’s high time that all regional forces to join their hands to protect Goa’s identity,” he said.
Although the party got elected many MLAs in the past, it now sees no hope of fighting elections on its own banner.
Adv Gracias told the party members that the voters gave chance to BJP in last election thinking that it would do good for the State, but BJP also followed the footsteps of Congress and broke the trust of Goans.
“Many Goans are going to European countries for better prospect, however, there is no need to surrender Indian passport if one opts for foreign passport. It’s Goans’ right to have two passports,” Adv Gracias said.
Dr Jorson Fernandes said that BJP government failed to perform in all fields. He said that the government has complicated MoI issue; granting aid to schools and the medium of instruction are different issues.
