PANJIM: With the search committee having completed its task of recommending a candidate for the post of Vice-Chancellor of Goa University, Governor and GU Chancellor Dr Mridula Sinha is expected to announce the name next week.
The search committee, headed by noted scientist Dr Raghunath Mashelkar, interviewed nine candidates on June 10 and submitted a report to Dr Sinha, hours later.
P B Nadda, professor at Himachal Pradesh University and brother of Union Health Minister Jagat Nadda is amongst the nine candidates shortlisted. The list includes Professor Sachin Vernekar of Goan origin who is currently attached with Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune.
Others in the shortlist are R B Srivastava of DRDO, Delhi; P Nagabhushan from Mysore University; Varun Sahini of Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi; M Chandrashekhar from the Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad; S K Upadhyay from Banaras Hindu University; Vishwanatha from Mangalore University and Bijan Nayak from DRDO, Bhubaneswar.
GU Vice Chancellor Dr Satish Shetye’s term ends in September. He is currently on extension.
