PONDA: Commuters travelling through the sharp turn near the PWD office in Daag, Ponda, face increasing risks due to a rough and bumpy road. To avoid the damaged patch, many drivers have been forced to switch to the wrong side of the road, endangering other motorists and pedestrians.

According to local resident Kishan Naik, the issue began six months ago when a large pothole developed during the repair of a damaged pipeline. The area was never properly restored, leaving the road uneven and hazardous. “Several accidents have been reported, but authorities have not taken any action to fix the road,” Naik stated.
Naik further highlighted another danger—a significant gap between a sewerage manhole cover and the road surface at another turn in the same area. He warned that “if a two-wheeler hits this gap and bounces, the pillion rider could fall off and risk being run over by vehicles coming from behind.”
He appealed to the PWD to address these safety hazards immediately. “The Chief Minister cannot look into every single issue, so it is the responsibility of the concerned PWD engineer to visit the site and ensure the road is repaired at the earliest,” Naik urged.
The road conditions have left residents and commuters frustrated, raising questions about the maintenance of vital public infrastructure in the area.
