Among the many videos from various tourist destinations in the State that have recently gone viral, a new one has surfaced about a disturbing incident in Goa — this time not involving a tourist, but a woman social media influencer from Uttar Pradesh (UP) who has been living in Goa for the past five years. In her video, the influenc er expressed grave concern for her safety and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to ensure her protection. The controversy began when she uploaded a video criticising a club in Vaga tor for allegedly charging Rs 45,000 for a table. She claimed she had not taken any payment for promoting the event and had merely requested a discount, as her friends were also present there. Shocked at the price, she said they decided not to enter. In the video, she questioned what could jus tify such a high charge, ask ing if the organisers had “a celebrity like Mika Singh performing” to warrant the amount. She later said this first video appeared to have triggered the backlash. In a second post, she defended her earlier re marks, saying she was only stating facts, questioning the ex tremely high table charge, and had not expected such a hos tile reaction. She alleged that her cosmetic shop had been vandalised and that she had received violent threats, includ ing warnings that her “hands would be broken.” She added that there was “no point” approaching the police, local pol iticians, or the government, as they would not support her. In a third video, she made an emotional appeal to the Prime Minister and the UP Chief Minister, identifying her self as a native of Bareilly and saying she now feared for her life. She alleged that the threats had escalated to warn ings of an acid attack and claimed that attempts were being made to drive her out of the State.
