He was received at Sanquelim by Opposition Leader Pratapsing Rane and Sanquelim Municipal Council (SMC) Chairman Dharmesh Saglani. Sharma has spread his message in more than 14 states and has given 2,380 lectures since he started his journey on November 10, 2014.
“Since the last seven months I have been travelling on the bicycle, spreading this message of Swacch Bharat by giving lectures in colleges, universities, government and private organisations throughout the country. Till date, I have lectured about two lakh students and feel that there is a need to bring about a change in the attitude and mindset of the people,” said Sharma, who is independently taking his mission ahead.
He says that he has given one year of his life to the nation, and by doing so, he was trying to fulfill his responsibility towards his Motherland. He felt that the nation is going through a rigorous transition phase and everyone has to come forward to ensure that the country is able to adopt major changes in the upcoming years.
At every school, college and organisation in his path, Sharma parks his bicycle and conducts workshops after obtaining permission from the head of the establishment.
His father Brijesh Kumar Sharma is a police officer in Bareilly, his brother is a scientist in Karnal and his younger sister is studying. All of them support his cause, for which he stepped out of his house with a backpack, a laptop for presentations, a DSLR, an internet dongle, and a smart phone.
Talking about the SMC’s initiative to start a garbage helpline, Sharma said that it was a novel method. He appreciated the efforts of Saglani and said, “I have not come across such a helpline in India during my tour, and such initiatives are
welcomed.”
