A 28-year old native of Uttar Pradesh Devendra Verma was found murdered at a construction site at Peddem-Mapusa.
Mapusa Police later swung into action and arrested two persons from Assam, Uttam and Jeetendra, in connection with the murder.
Police informed that they received a call stating that a body of a person, with stab injuries, was lying in a toilet at a construction at Peddem.
DySP Sammy Tavares and PI Rajesh Kumar rushed along with their team to the site immediately, where the body was found lying in a pool of blood.
The panchanama was conducted and after conducting preliminary investigations the police team under the guidance of Tavares swung into action and arrested two persons Uttam and Jeetendra in connection with the murder.
According to PI Rajesh Kumar, the deceased Devendra Verma was murdered on Sunday afternoon and his body was thrown in one of the toilets at the construction site. He was stabbed four times in the stomach. One of the stab wounds was so severe that even the intestines of the deceased had come out.
Divulging further, Rajesh informed that previous enmity could have led to the murder. He further said that all three were working at the same construction site. “Uttam was replaced a few days ago by the deceased Devendra Verma who was working as a site supervisor and from then onwards, Uttam was holding a grudge against the deceased,” Rajesh added.
Rajesh Kumar mentioned that the suspected accused Uttam and Jeetendra are both natives of Assam.
With the arrest of both accused, Mapusa police have been able to crack the murder case swiftly even though they were busy on election duty.
Rajesh Kumar mentioned that the investigations are in progress and further details on the murder would be revealed only after thorough interrogation of the accused.
