PONDA: Women from Usgao staged a protest on Thursday at the Public Works Department (PWD) office in Daag-Ponda, demanding immediate action to address a prolonged water crisis in their locality.

Panch member Manisha Usgaonkar said, “In Ward No. 4, the locals have been enduring a water crisis for four days. We filed complaints but even after temporary restoration, the issue keeps recurring. We raised the matter with the line operator, who claimed that someone may be tampering with the valve.”
The loclas met the Junior Engineer (JE) at the PWD office, who assured to investigate and resolve the issue.
“If there is a fault with the valve or if the pipeline is choked, the officials must take responsibility and conduct repairs,” she stressed. She also pointed out that this is not the first time Ward No. 4 has faced such problems, highlighting a recurring pattern of neglect.
In response to the protest, Yashraj Talpi, junior engineer at the PWD office, stated that the department would conduct an inspection of the pipeline to identify and address the fault.
