PONDA: Expressing fears that the COVID positive cases linked to rubber factory employees may spread rapidly in Ponda and Dharbandora, Usgao locals on Thursday complained to the Ponda Deputy Collector to conduct an inquiry in this regard and take suitable action to prevent the spread of the infection.
Sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar said, “In Kavlem, around six family members were infected due to two rubber factory employees.”
Veling panch Adv Varad Mardolkar said, “Around two rubber factory employees tested COVID positive at Mardol and two others in Kundaim. Four relatives of the rubber factory employees at Mardol contracted the infection. Hence, necessary precaution should be taken by the government in this matter.”
Usgao locals in their complaint to the Ponda Deputy Collector stated that the COVID death toll has crossed 50 in Goa. They said the rubber factory workers should be properly checked by Health Department. They gave list of 20 workers of rubber factory alleging that they are COVID positive.
Efforts to contact the Ponda Deputy Collector for his reactions proved futile as he was not reachable.
