Former India pacer Mohit Sharma has drawn a striking comparison between young batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and legendary former India captain MS Dhoni, highlighting the teenager’s rare “aura” and growing popularity across the country. Speaking on a cricket discussion show, Sharma said the 15-year-old is only the second cricketer he has seen, after Dhoni, who commands such widespread admiration irrespective of venue or franchise.
According to Sharma, Sooryavanshi’s presence at IPL venues already mirrors that of a superstar, with fans, commentators, cameramen, and even opposition players showing keen interest in interacting with him. He emphasised that this level of attention is extremely rare, especially for someone so young.
Sooryavanshi has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting talents in Indian cricket, impressing with his fearless batting, powerful six-hitting ability, and high-tempo approach against top-quality bowling attacks. His rapid rise has made him a standout name in the IPL landscape.
Sharma also noted that Dhoni achieved similar reverence during his peak years, making the comparison even more significant for a 15-year-old still at the start of his career.
