PANJIM: The students’ wings of Congress, NCP, AAP and Shiv Sena have termed the statement of Goa University (GU) Vice-Chancellor Varun Sahani slamming the students for boycotting the council elections, advising them to participate, win and then change the rules as “immature”.
It may be recalled that Sahani during the inaugural of Post Graduate Students Council had slammed the students for boycotting the Council elections, advising them to participate, win and then change the rules.
Ritesh Rawal of the NSC has asked the vice-chancellor not to be the spokesperson of the government and has sought an explanation under which provisions of law can students change the elections rules.
Alleging that Sahani’s remark is only to appease the government to suppress the librarian appointment scam, NSUI’s Ahraz Mulla has demanded that the FIR be filed against the Registrar as per court directions.
Mulla has filed a complaint against Tushar Korgaonkar of the BJYM for abusing him and Ritesh Rawal on social media.
Meanwhile, the student organisations have also demanded that despite several complaints why no action has taken against the police constables for their “unlawful” behaviour.
