PORVORIM: Industrial land which was converted into plots, claiming to create affordable housing scheme (which is generally for the poor) are being sold to the super rich in India and abroad on Zuari factory land, which was brought at 25 paise per square metre. The flats were initially sold at Rs 53,000 per sqm, but now are sold at Rs 1,19,000 per square metre, Fatorda MLA Vijai stated, alleging a Rs 50,000 crore scam.
While revenue minister Atanasio Monserrate said it was communidade land, Vijai questioned how govt was giving sanads and how Indian Navy had given NOC for height of the complex through there are height restrictions.

He was replying to Sardesai who asked whether the remaining land would also be sold as plots/flats. He also questioned why the deeds of said property are not in the property register.
Sardesai said a senior lawyer had said that the land could be taken over by the govt.
