MARGAO: The TCP Minister, Vijai Sardesai, has planned bring in a legislation to get all the open spaces in Goa under the local self governments. He was speaking on the ODP and other issues of South Goa.
Speaking on the ODP, Vijai said, “The new Outline Development Plan of South Goa will have residential spaces and the amount of water consumption, correction of improper structures, existing roads, present drainage network and also utilities like fibre optic cables.”
On open and recreational spaces, Vijai said, “I have come across areas which were earlier shown as recreational and now become C1 commercial areas. This is serious and will be inquired into. Recreational areas can’t be converted at all and today I can say that all open space will be protected.”
He said that by having a legislation which would bring all the open spaces under the local self governments, the government would help save the remaining open spaces. “The hitch is of the Supreme Court judgement on open spaces  which will be looked into while we plan,” he added.
