Goa Forward Party chief and MLA Vijai Sardesai has criticized the government’s decision to impose a 20% electricity tariff hike on night-time usage, calling it “anti-environment” and “unfair to responsible electric vehicle (EV) owners.”
“Electricity is a necessity, not a luxury. A 20% hike on night usage hurts EV owners who charge responsibly at night. While Gadkari promotes EVs, Dhavlikar discourages them. Such policies defeat India’s green goals,” Sardesai said.

The MLA argued that the tariff revision contradicts the central government’s push for electric mobility and renewable energy adoption. He urged authorities to reconsider the hike and support policies that encourage eco-friendly transportation and sustainable power consumption.
