Vijai Sardesai Urges PM Modi to Grant Dual Citizenship to Goans Working Abroad

Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding the introduction of dual citizenship for Goans working overseas, stating that many are being forced to choose between their livelihood and their Indian nationality.

In his letter, Sardesai said that while Goan identity was celebrated on the global stage during Republic Day celebrations, Goans living in India are facing harassment and are allegedly being stripped of their Indian passports due to issues related to citizenship status.

He argued that Goans who have migrated abroad in search of employment should not be penalised for pursuing better opportunities and must be allowed to retain their Indian citizenship alongside foreign nationality.

Sardesai urged the Prime Minister to consider the unique historical and socio-economic circumstances of Goa and take urgent steps to safeguard the rights, dignity and identity of Goans working abroad.
