Village Panchayat Lotoulim Requests Detailed Information for New Borim Bridge Land Acquisition

In response to the recent correspondence from the authorities regarding the proposed construction of the new Borim Bridge and its associated land acquisition, the Village Panchayat Loutulim has articulated several queries and requests for detailed information before proceeding further.

The Panchayat acknowledges the initiation of the demarcation process by Technogem Consultants scheduled to commence on May 13, 2024, as well as subsequent activities outlined for execution by the Land Survey Department and other relevant departments. However, in light of the significant implications for the local community, the Panchayat seeks clarification on various aspects before granting approval or cooperation.

Outlined below are the key points raised by the Village Panchayat:

Detailed Schedule and Contact Information: The Panchayat requests a comprehensive schedule delineating the survey, demarcation, valuation, and other related activities. Additionally, contact information for the consultant and heads of involved departments is sought for effective communication and coordination.

CRZ Areas Identification: Concerns are raised regarding the identification of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) areas, particularly the khazan lands earmarked for acquisition. The Panchayat urges authorities to provide a list of survey numbers within CRZ boundaries for transparency and informed decision-making.

Protection of Khazan Lands: Given the sensitivity and ecological significance of khazan lands, the Panchayat seeks detailed plans and CRZ clearances, if applicable, for any proposed demarcation or interference. Clear documentation and assurances are requested to prevent irreversible damage to these vital ecosystems.

Comprehensive Plan: The Panchayat emphasises the necessity of a comprehensive plan outlining the entire land acquisition and construction process. This plan should include step-by-step procedures, key milestones, and anticipated completion dates for each phase to ensure community awareness and preparedness for potential disruptions.

The Village Panchayat underscores the importance of transparency and timely provision of information to facilitate informed decision-making and community participation. It is hoped that authorities will address these concerns promptly to foster mutual cooperation and mitigate any adverse impacts on the local populace.

The Panchayat awaits a response from the concerned department, emphasising that no work should commence until these queries are adequately addressed.
