PANJIM, OCT 21 There was never a fight between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress at the Valpoi by-election with the result on Thursday, a victory margin of 8,405 votes for the latter, speaking for itself. In the first round of the result declared at 8.25 am, Congress candidate Vishwajeet Rane polled 3,612 votes compared to BJP's Santosh Haldankar's measly 678.
