VASCO: The councilors of ward number 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 OF Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) left almost no scope of complains, proficiently serving their voters with their basic needs like proper drainage, sewerage lines and keeping the locality spick and span. They even did their bit to maintain the localities with other public utility works. Ward number 6 to 9 of MMC falls in the Mormugao Constituency and the ward 10 in Vasco constituency.
Ward 6
Nilesh Navelkar was the Councillor of ward no 6, most of the works which were assured to the people has been done.
WORK DONE
. A major sewer was built near El Monte theatre. During the monsoon all rainwater used to flow down on the road with all waste materials and mud.
. Steps were constructed with railing at the hilly areas of this ward for the safety and convenience of the elderly people.
REQUIREMENT
. There is an issue with the Sulabh Toilet. People need better facilities and the Sulabh complex needs to be renovated.
. There is a need to build retaining wall on certain places in the hilly areas.
. There is also need to put up new service line in this ward as people face sewerage blockage problems
Ward 7
Shraddha Amonkar represented this ward where mostly lower middle class people reside.
WORK DONE
. Basic works such as cleaning of drains, fogging, putting some pavers and some personal works of the people were done.
REQUIREMENT
. There is a need to put pavers and lay proper drains at the Police Check Post as water logging occurs during monsoon.
. There is a also scope to build a playground near Busybee school.
Ward 8
Councillor Murari Bandekar of ward 8 was close to Urban Development Minister Milind Naik and a member of BJP mandal which helped him in undertaking various public utility works in his ward in Baina area.
WORK DONE
. Pavers, tiles and sewerage system were put in place wherever needed.
. Households were given new sewerage connections.
. Drainages were built; fogging, cleaning of drains was done.
. Footpaths, pavers were put up near Safi Masjid.
. Dark spots were cleared and were put up benches for people.
REQUIREMENT
. This ward faces electricity cuts, which might be solved once the sub-station at Bogda becomes fully operational.
WARD 9
Councillor Leo Rodrigues is a strong supporter of Urban Development Minister Milind Naik, which has benefitted him in accomplishing some works in his ward.
WORK DONE
. Almost 25 households, which did not have sewerage connection before were given new connections.
. Footpaths were built, drains were cleaned.
. Under GSUDA and under municipality almost Rs 2 crore worth works were done.
ISSUES
. Being a slums area, there might be some issues pertaining to road access, internal roads etc.
WARD 10
Councillor Dhanpal Swamy represented ward 10. Most of the houses which live in close proximities were given toilets. Drains were built; Railings were installed at various locations for the benefits of the elderly people.
WORK DONE
. In this ward there is a major work which remained pending which is construction of nullah. Few internal roads needs to be built. Nullah was supposed to be completed but due to some unknown issues the work remained pending. At some heighted places there is a problem related to water supply.
