CURCHOREM: Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral has said that he would do everything possible to complete the third phase of the mining bypass once the Land Acquisition Bill is passed in the Rajya Sabha.
Cabral was speaking after inaugurating the newly built culvert at Curchorem near old cinema house, on Wednesday. The culvert was constructed at a cost of Rs 32 lakh.
He also appealed to people, who are demanding bypass road under the banner of Mission Bypass, to come up with solutions, if they have any.
“Soon, the government will start the work on two other connecting roads, for which land has already been acquired. But since the work on third phase cannot be undertaken right now due to the new land acquisition Act, we have to find other solutions, such as, road widening with barricade,” Cabral said.
He informed that he had a meeting with Chief Minister Laximikant Parsekar which was also attended by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, GIDC Chairman Promod Sawant and officials, where, it was decided to float a tender for the first and second phase of mining bypass road within a month.
Assuring to sort out the difficulties in building a railway underpass road at Xirford, Cabral informed that the chief minister has given his approval to execute the work of railway underpass at Kamral and railway over bridge at Xelvona under State fund. A meeting has been fixed with railway officials on June 14 to discuss the issue, he said.
Informing that the works of constructing a modern Kadamba bus stand, administrative building for Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council, beautification of circles and road widening has already been started, Cabral said that the work on the ultra-modern sports complex in Curchorem would start soon.
“A swimming pool, a jogging track and a mini-stadium for indoor games are included in the sports complex project which will be the first of its kind in Goa,” Cabral informed.
