Workers’ lobby will be created to pressurise govt: union leader

PANJIM: A workers’ and labour lobby will be created to pressurise the government to get justice for the working class, union leader Ajitsingh Rane said on Monday.

Speaking to the media, he said the lobby will also work against the government’s anti-workers policy in the coming Assembly polls.
“We will create a lobby of workers and labour class in the coming days where all will come together and fight this government for failing to give justice to the working class since 2012,” Rane said.Rane on Monday addressed three striking groups in Panjim on the first day of the five-day Budget session of the Goa Legislative Assembly.
He said Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar has failed to appoint 145 contract workers who were given a break of 15 days in the service. Rane alleged that Tawadkar appointed almost 900 people from his constituency in the Sports Department.
“This government had scrapped hundreds of recruitments done during the previous Congress regime claiming they were done from the minister’s constituency. Now, they are involved in similar acts,” Rane alleged.
