CURCHOREM: A pillion rider succumbed to injuries suffered in an accident at Xic, Xelvona. He died while undergoing treatment at community health centre, Kakoda.
According to the Curchorem police, while proceeding on his Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle at Xic, Xelvona, Custodia Edberg D’Costa, aged 24, lost control of his vehicle and dashed against the parapet of a culvert. While the motorcyclist suffered injuries, his pillion rider Pintu Nishad, aged 27, suffered fatal injuries. Nishad was taken to community health centre at Kakoda where he died while undergoing treatment.
D’Costa is a resident of Cotto, Sanguem, while Nishad is a native of Badlapur in Uttar Pradesh, but was residing at Bamonsai, Sanguem.
Curchorem police have booked D’Costa for causing death of Nishad by rash and negligent driving.
Meanwhile, three persons were injured after a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle and a Yamaha scooter were knocked down by a Maruti 800 car at Rumbordem in Curtorim.
