MARGAO: Former South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar urged the youth and public to take up courses offered at the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra.
The Kendra, which opened in Colmorod Navelim, has evoked good response for the free service under National Skill Development Council.
The courses offered at the Kendra are free and administered to the desiring in a state-of-the-art facility in association with Silver Oak Institute.
Launched in March this year, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra Yojana received good response as 50 to 60 enrolled for the same.
Director of Silver Oak Institute, Rohan Dessai said, “The activity we started with the former South Goa MP has been backed by the Chief Minister. Through the media, we want to appeal to youth to get enrolled and get skilled”.
Urging the youth get themselves enrolled, Sawaikar said, “BJP is the only party who thought of skill development and made it a ministry. Through this scheme, today, 5.2 million students have been trained. National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has 1400 trainers”.
“We will add courses as the need arises,” said Rohan. The institute is presently training 45 youth and has a capacity of taking 480 students.
With tie-ups with over 100 firms, the training scheme also assures placement.
