Zenito Cardozo Moves Supreme Court Against Conviction in 2009 Siridao Gang War Case

Zenito Cardozo has filed a petition before the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s order that dismissed his appeal and upheld his conviction for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the 2009 Siridao gang war case, in which two persons were killed.

Cardozo had been sentenced to three years in prison in connection with the case. The High Court had earlier affirmed the trial court’s verdict, prompting him to approach the apex court seeking relief.

The 2009 Siridao gang war was one of Goa’s most notorious violent incidents, leading to multiple arrests and prolonged legal proceedings. The Supreme Court is expected to take up Cardozo’s plea for hearing soon.
