Time and again we hear about the success stories which are passion-driven without any great infrastructure and support system. Just a few years back, in a hinterland hamlet Bori in Ponda, a dance group “D’Malice Dance Academy” was born out of pure passion and love for dance.
Within a short span of two years, D’Malice has managed to capture a whooping number of 62 awards in various dance competitions all over the country and it is significant to note that that they have won 28 first place awards in the last year.
To name a few prestigious titles from the list are the first place award of ‘India’s Dancing Champ’, an all India dance competition and ‘Goa’s Dancing Superstar’. But to top all these achievements team D’Malice has broken all records in the history of dance in Goa and achieved a feat unparalleled by getting selected in the auditions of the ace dance reality Show ‘Dance Plus’ on Star Plus channel. Cutting across more than 50,000 competitors from across the nation and clearing five different levels of tough auditions, Team D’Malice set foot in this new journey of dance reality show and set a new record in the state by of being the first-ever dance crew from Goa to get through the tough auditions of a premier dance reality show. This was a dream come true not just for D’Malice but also for their huge number of fans across the state. They have not only impressed their fans from Goa but have also left a mark on the hearts of the judges on Dance Plus show. They were praised by the guru of all Remo Dsouza
This dedicated crew of 17 has been selected and shortlisted in India’s top 30 contestants in the reality show ‘Dance Plus’ which is being aired on Star Plus channel.
However, this journey too was not an easy one without any professional guidance or much of financial support. But their sheer dedication and passion for dance and their vow to prove themselves to the world gave them the strength and power to reach up to this height.
Aditya Borkar, the President of D’Malice Dance Academy, who gave up his well-paid job to give this audition and live his passion, the dream won’t be over after this selection in ‘Dance Plus’. “This achievement is the turning point in our lives. The common man doesn’t know about our style and story. This accomplishment will make them aware about our struggles and it will help the young generations like us to nurture their talent in future.” D’Malice’s next goal is to go one step further and set foot in not just national but also the international stage of dance.
Our aim is now to take this dance crew forward to greater heights to achieve more titles and represent India at an international level where we can make make Goa and the nation proud. We want to take this dance crew to the international hip hop dance companion which will take place in USA “ said Aditya
The crew credits their success to working with zeal and vigor in the face of deterrents and their belief where they vowed never to give up hope.
Practising strenuously all through the night for days together, rehearsals without any studio or mirror just using their shadows in the night focus lights to check the synchronisation, late night practices on the beach and sometimes in the college halls, dancing even while burning with high fever are just a few examples of the struggle and determination of this team which has brought them where they stand now.
