No more statues will come up at Goa Assembly Complex

HERALD:  Does BJP foresee a kind of political pressure being built by Goa Forward, who seem to be taking undue advantage of being coalition partners?
DATTAPRASAD NAIK: The coalition partners have to face a certain electorate which they feel is their main voter, so they have certain ideology and also certain values. We feel that people of Goa need better education, better infrastructure and good job opportunities and are not interested in any statues. The BJP office bearers have already resolved that no statues will come up anymore at the Goa Assembly Complex and once the resolution is passed it is the duty of everyone to abide by it.
HERALD:   Do you think the entire issue of Jack De Sequeira is a political stunt?
DATTAPRASAD:  Every political party thinks that they have a certain electorate to look after so they maybe on that line them maybe having certain agendas and maybe about installing statues. As far as BJP is concerned we are clearly interested in giving facilities like better education, better infrastructure and good job opportunities and are not interested in any unwanted statues.
HERALD:  Is there a divide in the BJP on this entire issue of Statue and how do you see this?
DATTAPRASAD:  As I have said, the party meeting which took place and also which I was also a part of resolved that no more statues will come up at the Goa Assembly Complex. The decision is supreme. There is no divide in the BJP and the party with all its karyakartas and leaders are all united. There is no issue of any rift in the party because every leader, karyakartas who were present for the meeting had put in their views about the matter so in any way there is option for any divide in the party. BJP is united with all its leaders and other party members.
