Let’s Celebrate Christmas’ an audio album by Liofia Productions carries 12 tracks comprising of Christmas carols and reggae songs.
The opening song ‘King of Kings’ by Shunaina Baptista speaks about Mother Mary’s son who is the chosen one and who came to give joy and lasting happiness. She also mentions about Jesus, who is the son of the Mighty One, who came to save the world and souls and grant eternal life. She invites everyone to sing His praises and adore Him as He is the King of Kings.
While extending her Christmas greetings, the following carol ‘Christmas Time’ by Elodie Goes tells about Christmas time which is the best time of the year. Christmas time fills the hearts with love divine. It is a cold winter night, she says, and the right time to extend greetings.
‘Mama Mary’ another solo by Raiza Pereira is a prayer to fill everyone’s hearts with love divine. Mother Mary is full of God’s glory, she notes, let your love shine upon everyone; plead for us through Jesus Christ. Hold us in your loving arms and fill our hearts with love divine, she prays.
‘God’s Son’ another carol relates the story of the holy child born in Bethlehem. He is the prince of Peace, the singer says, come and worship Him as he is the savior of the world. ‘Santa Claus’ a carol by Nysha Pereira and Rose Fernandes invites the Santa Claus to disclose from where he comes and about the gifts carries for everyone. “Everybody come and join me to sing and dance around the Christmas tree,” they sing.
‘Sweet Baby Jesus’ by Elodie Goes is a description of Jesus in the manger, who is sweet and wonderful. “You are my God and Lord,” she says, “you are the light of the world, you are the savior of my soul.” ‘Snow is Falling’ by Leticia Mascarenhas mentions about the silent and the cold winter night. Everybody is singing and worshipping Mother Mary’s boy. In the manager is lying a new born child, who is smiling and crying.
‘Merry Christmas’ is another greeting during the festive season. “Let us sing the Christmas song, she says, “Jesus Christ, son of God, light of the world.” The following solo ‘Bright Star’ by Rose Fernandes is about the bright star shining up in the sky and the angels singing, thus heralding the birth of a child.
The concluding title song ‘Let us Celebrate’ by Leticia Mascarenhas speaks about the wonderful feeling deep down in the heart. “Come let us celebrate in a special way,” Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day.”
The lyrics and music to all the songs are by Neville Pereira. But lyrics and music to most of the songs appear quite similar, thus moving in the same direction. Except for one song, rest all other songs in the album are rendered in the form of solos, leading to monotony.
The vocal recording has been carried out at Magic Touch, Margao, while music recording, mixing and mastering have been made at Acoustics Studio, Arpora.
