PANJIM: Sesa Football Academy (SFA), India’s premier soccer coaching school, has announced that the admissions for its ninth batch of trainees will commence from November 15.
Boys in the age group of 14-15 years will be admitted to the residential academy from June next year for a full-fledged four-year training programme intended to provide them scientific training and grooming to turn them into professional football players.
Boys born not earlier than January 1, 1999 and not later than December 31, 2000, are eligible to apply for the prestigious training programme. Eighteen of the best applicants will be selected.
As in the past, SFA will also take care of the formal education of the trainees for the four-year period. The entire training programme is provided to trainees free of cost.
The prospectus and application forms will be available at the SFA’s junior and senior academies and also at Sesa Sterlite, head office in Panjim. The last date to submit applications is November 25.
“Trainees from the Sesa Football Academy have always excelled in the past and this year too we are looking to pick the best of youthful football talent in Goa for the upcoming training programme,” informed Anastasios Siloulas, the technical director of the Sesa Football Academy.
“Our academy has set a benchmark for quality and excellence in Indian football and many of our graduates have gone on to represent India at the highest level,” said Sioulas, an experienced coach from Greece.
SFA has produced a fine crop of 93 footballers since 1999. The academy uses state-of-the-art training methods and equipments under the supervision of a team of accomplished coaches to shape the footballing careers of young Goans.

The junior SFA has been functioning from the year 1999 in Sanquelim, North Goa, while the senior academy came up in 2008 in Sirsaim, a few kilometres from Sanquelim.
