MARGAO: Agasaim Veterans got the better of Quepem Veterans 5-4 via the tie-breaker to storm into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Navelim Veterans football tournament organized by Navelim Veterans at Rosary ground, Navelim, Wednesday. There was no score at full time.
The teams started on a cautious note. As the match progressed, Agasaim Veterans took control and asserted their supremacy in the midfield.
After resumption, Agasaim continued to enjoy the lion’s share of exchanges but their forwards frittered away easy chances.
Qupem Veterans struggled and hardly tested the rival goalkeeper.
In the tie-breaker, Domnic Alfonso, Leo Cruz, Hipolotio Dias, Constancio Nunes and Mohammed were on target for Agasaim while Joao Fernandes, John Fernandes, Egidio D’Costa and Manu Cardozo converted for Quepem Veterans.
Constancio Nunes of Agasaim was adjudged man-of-the-match.
