QUEPEM: The 3rd Unique All India open FIDE rating (standard) chess tournament organized by Unique Chess Academy, Curchorem in association with Quepem Taluka Chess association under the aegis of Goa chess association & All India Chess Federation got underway, at the Quepem college auditorium, on Tuesday.
A total of 126 participants from different parts of the country are participating in the tournament out of which 7 are title players while 79 are FIDE rated players.
Ritviz Parab (2343) of Goa is the top seed of the tournament. The prize fund of the tournament is Rs 4,10,000 in addition to other cash prizes & trophies for winners.
The Marathon race will continue till April 20 and will be conducted under Swiss league system of 9 rounds with two rounds per day and 1 round on the last day under the control of International Arbiter Manjunatha M , Pramdraj Mori(IA) and Federation Arbiters Sanjay Kavlekar & Swapnil Hoble.
The tournament was inaugurated by chief guest Kishor Bandekar (Treasurer AICF, Secretary GCA), Guest of Honour Brijpal Singh Gahlot, vice-Principal Quepem Govt College ,Chief Arbiter: Pramod Raj Mori, Ashesh Keni(President STCA) , Rasika Kavlekar, President Unique Chess Academy)Sanjay Kavlekar, Jairaj Borkar & Sushant Vaidya.
