rnAmbelim Sports Club blanked Dramapur Sports Club 2-0 to cruise into the quarter-finals of Curtorim Villagers Cup football tournament organised by Curtorim Gymkhana at Curtorim ground, on Friday. Ambelim led 1-0 at half time.
rnAmbelim enjoyed the lion share of exchanges in both sessions as their opponents struggled hard upfront with their erratic forwards making things difficult.
rnAmbelim opened their account in the 20th minute when forward Maxwin Fernandes was brought down by Dramapur defender Antonio Dias inside the penalty area and the referee without any hesitation pointed to the dreaded spot. Clayton D’Silva made no mistake with the resultant spot kick to send the rival keeper in the wrong direction.
rnAmbelim doubled the lead in the 48th minute when David Simoes’ free kick, just outside the rival penalty box, took the rivals by surprise.
