PANJIM: Holders Anjuna Gymkhana will clash with Navelim Villagers Union in the inaugural match of the 12th London Trophy, organized by Goa Velha Sports Club and supported by people from Goa Velha in UK, at Goa Velha ground, on Saturday.
After hosting various Goa Football Association’s matches– including the First Division League matches last season; the villagers will get to witness the beautiful game through their annual London Trophy, this season, which has been played for over decade now.
Last season, Goa Velha SC played their first division home matches at the venue.
Altogether 16 teams –Anjuna Gymkhana, Navelim Villagers Union, St Anthony’s SC Marna, Ambelim SC, Candolim SC, DBO Fatorda, Saligao United, St Anthony’s SC Colva, Chandor Club, Sao Jose de Areal, Betalbatim SC, CDJ Ribandar, Curtorim Gymkhana, UC Nerul, Young Strikers Club and Goa Velha SC.
“The final will be played on March 20 which is traditionally held on the second day of the procession of saints,” stated Goa Velha general secretary Iyno D’Souza.
