PANJIM: Anthony Gomes, Prakash Alfonso, Amit Naik and Sachin Soares made their way to the finals in their respective categories on Day One of the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Table Tennis Championship, at the newly constructed arena at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar.
In the above 60 category, Anthony will take on Prakash in the final. Anthony Gomes on his way to the finals defeated Padmanad Kamat in straight sets 11-9, 11-5, 11-4. In the semi-finals Anthony got the better of Anand Naik winning 11-9, 8-11, 11-1, 11-9. In the other half of the draw Prakash defeated Kashinat Khalap in straight sets 11-7, 11-9, 11-2. In the semi-finals Prakash defeated Kuldip Kabadi 11-5, 9-11, 11-5, 11-13, 11-2.
In the above 40 category, Amit showed signs of going all the way as he won his game against Vinay Raikar and went on to defeat Glen Coelho in a hard fought match 6-11, 12-10, 11-7, 11-9, 11-5 in the first semi-final. In the second semi-final, Sachin defeated Ratnadeep Shivani scoring 11-7, 10-12, 11-9, 11-9. Amit will take on Sachin in the finals.
