PANJIM: Russel Fernandes scored a fine brace netting a goal on the either half helping ABC Arambol score a fluent 2-1 win over Peddem Bomm SC in the Goa Football Association Third Division League match played at Assonora ground, on Sunday.
Russel scored the first at the half-hour mark which turned out to be the only real action in the first half. Crossing over, Russel doubled the lead in the 75th minute. Peddem Bomm pulled a goal back through Dylan D’Mello. His late strike wasn’t enough for Peddem Bomm to get back into the game as the time ran out.
In another match at Bicholim ground, BAFF and FC Sanquelim shared spoils after playing out a 3-3 draw.
BAFF took the lead through Rama Parwar but FC Sanquelim got back stronger and scored three through Ritesh, Ashwin and Nehal. But just when it looked like Sanquelim would walk away with three points, BAFF scored two late goals, thanks to a fine late show by Pratik Tirodkar who score in the 78th minute and 90+1 minutes for BAFF to steal points from FC Sanquelim.
GFA U-16 League
Sirlim SC scored a big 7-0 win over Verna SC in the GFA U-16 League match played at Artificial Turf ground, on Sunday.
Diptesh Gaonkar scored five goals for the winners while Rahul and Mujafar netted a goal each. The winners led 2-0 at the break.
In another match at Fatorda ground, Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda trounced Curtorim Gymkhana 4-1.
Sufain Khan was the hero for his side as he netted a fine hat-trick, Sezvin Luis also got his name on to the score sheet for the winning side. Sagar Prabhu pulled a goal back for the losing side.
At Chinchinim ground, Salcete FC drubbed Youth Welfare Club Assolna 8-0. The winners led 7-0 at the break. Jeff Gauncar scored a treble while Sherwin Vaz and Cidroy De Souza netted a brace. Vavldy Travaso scored the eight for the winning team.
GFA U-14 League
Goa United beat Arpora Sporting Club 3-0 in the GFA U-14 League match.
At Sesa Academy ground, Sesa FA eased their way past St Anthony Siolim 3-1. The winners led 2-0 at the break as Selroy Coutinho and Jeff Dias netted in the 3rd minute and 27th minute respectively. Changing over Sesa added their third through Bikram Sen. Domnic Fernandes scored a consolation for the losing side.
