Anurag scored seven points from nine rounds with six wins and two draws. He defeated three International Masters IM Suhendra Andi Supardi of Indonesia, IM Paciencia Enrique of Singapore and IM Dimakiling Olivier of Philipines and drew against IM S Nitin and IM Dinesh Kumar Sharma, both from India.
Anurag also defeated WFM Tan li Tang of Malaysia, FM Harshal Sahi of India and Olay Edgar Reggie of Philipines but lost in the final round to IM Swapnil Dhopade of India. He was in lead till the second last round but due to defeat in the final round had to satisfy for the second place. He will gain nine Elo points from this tournament.
IM Anurag, Goa’s top and highest rated player is aiming for a GM title which is the highest title in chess. His rating at present is 2437 and is aiming to cross 2500 which is the requirement for the GM title along with two GM norms.
After crossing 2400 rating it has become really difficult for Anurag to gain Elo points. He had won silver medal in August, in Greece.
