Badminton camp held for children with special needs

PANJIM: Special Olympics Bharat in collaboration with Goa Badminton Association and the Sports Authority of Goa organised a one Day camp, ‘Introduction of Badminton’ to Special Olympics athletes at Indoor stadium Campal. 

The Goa Badminton Association deputed five of its coaches, Arjun Chauhan, Anup Kushwaha, Dhananjay Sirsat, Shridhar Gosavi and Avdhut Saptoji to conduct the camp, which was held over three sessions. 

Physical Education Teachers from various Institutions assisted in conducting the camp. 28 children with special needs from various locations across Goa participated in the day long camp which included fitness training sessions, on court sessions and a session on inclusive participation where the Special Olympics children played alongside regular trainees giving them a fun-filled experience.

“The Special Olympics Bharat- Goa has joined hands with  Goa Badminton Association (GBA to enhance the Badminton experience for children with special needs and to fulfill our mission of creating inclusiveness via sports for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities”, stated Victor Vaz, National Sports Director for Special Olympics Bharat.
