MARGAO: Baina Youth Club registered a fluent 3-0 victory over Panchawadi United Sports Club in GFA’s Under-18 Second Division League match at Cansualim Sports Complex, on Monday.
Baina Youth Club led 1-0 at half time.
Both the teams started the game on attacking note. As the match progressed, Baina Youth Club took control over the proceedings and tested the rival goalkeeper with long rangers. Repeated forays bore the fruit in the 37thminute when Clayson Pereira bulge the net.
Stung by that setback, Panchawadi United Sports Club made concerted efforts to neutralized the lead but failed to get past the rival strong defence.
Baina Youth Club had couple of scoring chances to increase their tally but their forwards shot wide from close range.
A lot was expected from Panchawadi United Sports Club after the break, but today they failed to function as a cohesive unit. Roger Branca doubled the lead in the 68th minute when he punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
Spurred by 2-0 cushion, Baina Youth Club were more aggressive and showed urgency and kept the rivals on the back foot. Clayson later scored his brace in the 78th minute to troop out worthy winners.
