Bangladesh’s standoff with the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the T20 World Cup 2026 has escalated, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) seeking arbitration hours after the ICC rejected its request to move matches out of India. Sources say the BCB has written to the ICC asking that the matter be referred to the ICC’s independent Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC).
Bangladesh has reiterated that its refusal to play in India is due solely to security concerns and is a sovereign decision. Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul said Bangladesh would not travel to India after the ICC declined a venue shift.
The ICC said its decision was based on objective security assessments and warned that relocating fixtures would disrupt scheduling and set problematic precedents.
