Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal defeated Deep Vihar High School, Vasco 2-1 to march into the finals of South District U-14 Subroto Mukherjee inter- school football tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Manora ground, Raia on Saturday. The winners were trailing 0-1 at half time.
Deep Vihar went into the lead when Joy Ferns Novisco slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a sizzling shot which gave no chance to the rival goalkeeper.
Bethany went into the aggression mode and repeatedly raided the rival citadel with sharp raids. They were rewarded when Tyrone Fernandes equalised with a pile driver.
Bethany tried their best with time running out and Lefito Gomes made no mistake in unleashing a volley which rattled the Deep Vihar goalkeeper.
Bethany will now meet Guardian Angel High School, Curchorem in the South Goa district final.
