RAIA: CAC Cansaulim Sports and Social Club edged past Chandor Sports Club 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the 45th Custodio Memorial inter-village football tournament organized by Raia Sporting Club, at Raia panchayat ground, on Sunday.
At the end of regulation time, both the teams were held to a goalless draw. CAC Cansaulim missed a chance to score when Domnic Soares’ long ranger hit the goalpost of Chandor SC and went out of play in the 5th minute.
Chandor SC missed two sitters through Sunny Fernandes, whose long rangers went two feet wide in the 12th and 16 minute.
After the lemon break, the teams tried to score the match winner but both the goalkeepers, Presley Mascarenhas of Chandor SC and
Prabhakar Kattimani of CAC Cansaulim did a commendable job under their goalposts.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, CAC Cansaulim netted through Domnic Soares, Vegan Ferrao, Chadwick Furtado, Canceio Soares and Richard Rodrigues while Chandor SC converted through Joseph Fernandes, Soccoro Fernandes, Kevin Vaz and Melroy.
