PANJIM: Comptroller and Audit General recorded a huge 80 run victory over DY Patil in the Goa Corporate League T20, organied by Goa Cricket Association, at GCA ground, Porvorim, on Thursday.
Electing to bat first, a brilliant knock of 54 runs off 25 balls from Ankit Sharma led CAG to a massive total of 175 runs.
The half-centurion hit six sixes and two boundaries with a strike rate of 216. Ankur Julka (37) had led the team after they were down at 34 for 2. CAG were reduced to 104 for five but Ankit Kaushik quick-fire 10 balls 30 runs helped the team reach 175 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs.
Vinett Sinha was the pick of DY Patil bowlers as the lad took three wickets giving away 40 runs. Sandeep Warrior, Pravin Tambea and Iqbal Abdulla were the other wicket takers.
In reply, an excellent bowling display by Gurinder Singh with the figures of 5 for 18 helped his team to bundle out DY Patil for mere 95 runs in just 13.3 overs..
CAG took the first wicket in the second over when Shauriya Sanadia sent Kevin Almeida for just four runs. DY Patil failed to develop a good partnership as they lost wickets at regular intervals.
Shubham Ranjane (34) and Iqbal Abdulla (22) were the only batsmen to reach double figures.
Besides Gurinder, Ankit Kaushik took two wickets while Imtiaz Ahmed and Shauriya took a wicket each for the winners.
The Man-of-the-Match award was shared by Gurinder Singh and Ankit Sharma.
In another match, ONGC defeated Air India by 23 runs.
Batting first, ONGC scored 181 for the loss of five wickets.
Nitish Rana (41) was the top scorer for ONGC.
Badrey Alam 1/32 impressed with the ball for Air India.
In reply, Air India could manage to score 158 runs losing seven wickets in 20 overs.
Raunaq Sharma scored a half century. Sharma scored 59 off just 36 deliveries.
Suhail Sharma (3/23) and Nitish Rana (2/16) impressed with the ball for ONGC.
Nitish Rana won the Man-of-the-Match award.
