CALANGUTE: Candolim Sports Club defeated St. Augustias, Pomburpa 2-0 to move into the quarter-finals of Parra Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organised by PVC Association, at PVC ground, Parra, Wednesday.
Dominating the proceedings, Candolim forged ahead in the 21st minute through Manuel Crasto. Down by a goal, Pomburpa created opportunities but their forwards failed to capitalize on these.
Changing over, Nehal Naik consolidated Candolim’s lead in the 61st minute. Although down by two goals, Pomburpa boys did not give up till the final whistle but to no avail.
