CARMONA: Carmona SC downed Sao Jose de Areal 3-1 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of the John Cruz Ferrao Memorial Cup football tournament organised by Carmona Sports Club, at village panchayat ground, Carmona, on Saturday.
Both the teams played an attacking brand of football but failed to convert any chances in both the halves.
The best chance of the match fell to Alex of Carmona in the 49th minute but the latter’s shot hit the Areal defender and went out of play.
In the tie-breaker, Carmona SC scored through Joy, Darren and Aldrin while Joseph converted for Sao Jose de Areal. Carmona SC keeper Aaron was adjudged man-of-the- match.
