PANJIM: Churchill Brothers FC refuted the allegations raised by Panjim Footballers for not complying with the U-20 rule in their Goa Professional League match played on January 28 at Rosary ground, Navelim.
Churchill Brothers Manager Danzie Ferrao stated that they are very conversant with the rules on fielding their U-20 players. “We fielded two players as per the rules in force. Both players played for 90 minutes. It is false to state that they didn’t play for 90 minutes as we have the required officials’ record from the match officials declaring the time when the U-20 players were substituted, one in the first half and the other in the second half to complete 90 minutes, ” Danzie confirmed.
Danzie pointed out that the alleged protest is not based on facts and certainly not based on match official records and as such the protest should be rejected. “The accusation is malicious, intended to tarnish the image of the club and give a distorted message, “ Danzie added and pointed out that even the reports appearing in the Newspapers gave the name of U-20 player who played in the second half when the match – winner was scored. Hence the accusation is a blatant lie, raised with malafide, unsporting intentions and certainly not in the true spirit of the proceedings, he added.
